Is Santa Claus a Smuggler? with Oscar Gonzalez
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Santa Claus is known for his generosity, but the customs office may not be so generous to him. You see, when Santa travels around the world delivering gifts to good boys and girls, he must declare all of those gifts at customs upon arrival in each country, at least that is what everyone else has to do or run the risk of being charged with smuggling.
Now, think about how many presents Santa has brought over the years—dozens? Hundreds? Thousands? Millions? We're talking about a lot of stuff that needs to be declared when he arrives in your country! And it's not just toys that are on the list.
This week's guest, attorney Oscar Gonzalez of GRVR law firm takes us through this discussion and argues several different points regarding Santa's alleged trade misconduct.

It is very common, as we have discovered in many of the past episodes, that someone in a Trade Compliance career very likely 'stumbled' into this job. Many of us just happened to get a job at a company that happens to do work in trade.
It is likely that these careers in trade came with little or no preparation from a college or university. Many times it requires that you learn on the job. However, in many cases, it is common that there is a mentor that will lead you along and provide the help and guidance to get you through any hurdle that comes along.
In this episode, Kellie Kemock of the Women In Trade Podcast and also a trade attorney with Ernst and Young talks to us about her experience as a mentor as well as developing and encouraging others in the industry to become mentors. We hear lots of sound advice of how to both mentor and how to work with a mentor to advance in your career.
Enjoy the show!
