What does the World Cup have to do with International Trade?
Sunday Nov 20, 2022
Sunday Nov 20, 2022
We are excited to start a new segment with Simply Trade. Until we come up with a name for this segment we will just refer to them as mini episodes. These will feature fundamentals of international trade and/or current trending events in trade... or both!!
The show is hosted by Lalo Solorzano and Annik Sobing (part of the GTC Team!!).
This week we take on the question, "What does the World Cup have to do with International Trade?"... or "Why would Taylor Swift care about International Trade?" in case some of you don't care about soccer, football, futbol, fußball, "the beautiful game", or as Dani Rojas refers to it as, "Football is Life".
We talk about a very useful international trade instrument that can save teams, performers, business travelers, and many others lots of time and money... and headaches. Tune it to hear what this is all about.
Let us know your thoughts on this new segment and any suggestions or ideas that you may have for us to talk about.

Ever been to a social gathering or anywhere with a group and you are asked that question, 'What do you do?'. If you are in International Trade, usually this means you are going to lose the interest of the people around you... unless, you happen to find that group of peers that understand what you do and what you do.
In this episode we catch up with Darie Achstein-Conway who, like the song from the TV show, "Cheers' says, everyone knows. Trade compliance is a topic that most people would consider to be dry and boring—until you hear about some of the crazy stories that have gone down in the world of trade compliance. Whether it's a shipment of product that somehow got in the wrong hands, or product you 'thought' was not subject to antidumping duties, these stories can be so wild and crazy, they're almost unbelievable.
For this special Halloween episode, we asked Adrienne Braumiller of Braumiller Law Group and Braumiller Consulting Group to share some horror stories she has experienced when it comes to trade compliance. We do, however, have takeaways from these stories and provide some best practices so that you are not part of those horror stories in the future.
This is a two part show. We hope you enjoy.
